MY LONELINESS PROJECT

LONELINESS

At the beginning of this year, I decided to continue pursuing my love of capturing portraits of children.  I decided to leave my comfort zone and I was determined to create a body of work that would generate an awareness of loneliness and anxiety in children.

(As adults we tend to forget how hard it was growing up, how awkward it was being a teenager and how alone we felt every once in a while.)

I was so comfortable taking images of children being children, capturing their laughter and playfulness. My challenge now was -How am I going to create a body of work that would evoke emotion and portray anxiety and loneliness? It wasn’t going to be easy. I created a list of questions that I thought of asking the models, but then I decided that they may be too sensitive to ask and that this may not be the best approach.

Instead, I chose to play soft music in the hope that it may help create a mood or emotion that I could capture that would capture the essence of loneliness.
